TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE REMOVAL

PROCEDURE

1. REMOVE REAR CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY

2. REMOVE NO. 2 CYLINDER HEAD COVER (for 1ZR-FE)

3. REMOVE NO. 2 CYLINDER HEAD COVER (for 2ZR-FE)

   Click here

4. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY (for 1ZR-FE)

   Click here

5. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY (for 2ZR-FE)

6. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY (for 1ZR-FE)

   Click here

7. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY (for 2ZR-FE)

8. REMOVE BATTERY (for 1ZR-FE)

   Click here

9. REMOVE BATTERY (for 2ZR-FE)

10. REMOVE BATTERY CARRIER ASSEMBLY (for 1ZR-FE)

11. REMOVE BATTERY CARRIER ASSEMBLY (for 2ZR-FE)

12. REMOVE FRONT CENTER FLOOR BRACE (for 1ZR-FE)

13. REMOVE FRONT CENTER FLOOR BRACE (for 2ZR-FE)

14. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (TWC: Front and Rear Catalyst) (for 1ZR-FE)

15. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (TWC: Front and Rear Catalyst) (for 2ZR-FE)

16. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR

    1. 

       Remove the 3 nuts and front No. 1 floor heat insulator from the body.

17. REMOVE TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY

    1. Move the shift lever to N.

    2. 

       Disconnect the end of the transmission control cable assembly from the shift lever assembly.

    3. 

       *1	Stopper
       *2	Shift Lever Assembly

       Using a screwdriver, pull out the stopper of the transmission control cable assembly.

       Note:

       Do not remove the stopper. If it is removed, reinstall it to its original position.

    4. 

       *1	Stopper
       *2	Nut

       Rotate the nut counterclockwise approximately 180° and, while holding the nut in that position, disconnect the transmission control cable assembly from the shift lever assembly.

       Note:

       Do not rotate the nut excessively as the interior spring may come off and the transmission control cable assembly will not be reusable.

    5. 

       Remove the nut and disconnect the transmission control cable assembly from the control shaft lever.

    6. Remove the clip and separate the transmission control cable assembly from the No. 1 transmission control cable bracket.

    7. 

       Remove the bolt and disconnect the transmission control cable assembly from the rear engine mounting insulator.

    8. 

       Remove the 2 nuts and then remove the transmission control cable assembly from the vehicle exterior.
