CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM FAIL-SAFE CHART

Tip:

If the following conditions are detected while the cruise control system is controlling vehicle speed, the system clears the vehicle speed stored in the ECM and cancels the cruise control system control of vehicle speed.

  • Cruise control indicator light goes off*1

  • A warning message "Cruise Control Malfunction Visit Your Dealer" is displayed*1

  • "Pong" warning sound is heard*1

  • Cruise control indicator light illuminates in yellow*2

There is open or short in stop light switch circuit

  • Cruise control system is turned off

  • Push cruise control switch on again

  • Problem with stop light switch input circuit

  • Problem with cruise control switch cancel circuit

  • Malfunction in the brake control system

  • Communication stop between skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) and ECM

  • Push cruise control switch on again

  • Turn ignition switch off

Cruise control indicator light remains illuminated (Cruise control system control of vehicle speed is canceled)

  • Vehicle speed is lower than low speed limit (approximately 40 km/h [25 mph]) while running with cruise control system on

  • Vehicle stability control system operates while driving with cruise control system controlling vehicle speed*3

  • TRC operates for certain amount of time while driving with cruise control system controlling vehicle speed*3

  • TRC and VSC are off*3

Press cruise control switch to +RES

Vehicle speed is lower than stored speed by approximately 16 km/h (9.9 mph) or more

Press cruise control switch to -SET

Cruise control indicator light goes out

  • Malfunction in the SFI system (for 2AR-FE, 3ZR-FE, 3ZR-FAE)

  • Malfunction in the ECD system (for 2AD-FHV, 2AD-FTV, 2WW)

  • Cruise control system is turned off

  • Push cruise control switch on again

  • *1: for TFT Display Type
