    Windshield Wiper Switch Assembly Setting this switch to AUTO will cause the raindrop sensing function to operate and adjust its sensitivity.
    Rain Sensor Senses raindrops when the windshield wiper switch assembly is in AUTO, and sends signals to the windshield wiper relay assembly.
    Windshield Wiper Relay Assembly Receives operation signals from the rain sensor and inputs them into the front wiper motor and link assembly.
    Front Wiper Motor and Link Assembly Operates the wiper in accordance with the signals from the rain sensor, when the windshield wiper switch assembly is in AUTO.
    Combination Meter Assembly Receives signals from the speed sensor and sends the vehicle speed signal to the windshield wiper relay assembly.

  2. FUNCTION


    1. Rain Sensing Function


      1. The rain sensing function controls the wiping timing in accordance with the amount of rain detected when the AUTO switch (windshield wiper switch assembly) is on.

      2. This control is effected by the rain sensor based on the amount of rain and input signals from the windshield wiper relay assembly.

      3. A luminance detection function is provided to automatically change the rain sensitivity according to day or night.

    2. Washer-linked Wiper with Drip-prevention Function


      1. When the windshield wiper switch assembly is set to off or AUTO and the washer switch is turned on for approximately 0.5 seconds or more, the wipers start on LO at the same time as the washer fluid is sprayed.

      2. The wipers operate 3 times on LO after the washer switch is turned off.

      3. When the vehicle speed is approximately 4 km/h (2 mph) or less, as shown in the following diagram, at the end of this operation, the wipers operate once more after 3 seconds.

    3. Washer Fluid Level Warning


      1. When the volume of washer fluid decreases to below a certain level, the combination meter assembly displays the messages "Windshield Washer Fluid Low" on the multi-information display and illuminates the master warning light to warn the driver.

  3. FAIL-SAFE


    1. The windshield wiper relay assembly is equipped with a fail-safe function which makes control of the wipers possible even when a malfunction occurs in the connected switches and sensors, etc. For details, refer to the Repair Manual.
