WINDSHIELD DEICER SWITCH ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT FRONT WIPER DEICER SWITCH


    1. Check wire harness and connector.

        (to Front Wiper Deicer Switch)

        Disconnect the front wiper deicer switch connector.

      2. Measure the voltage and resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Voltage
        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        6 (ILL+) - 1 (ILL-) Headlight dimmer switch off → tail or head Below 1 V → 11 to 14 V
        4 (D) - 2 (E) Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
        5 (IG) - 2 (E) Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
        Standard Resistance
        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        1 (ILL-) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
        2 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    2. Check that the front wiper deicer switch operates.

        (Front Wiper Deicer Switch)

        Connect the front wiper deicer switch connector.

      2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Voltage
        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        4 (D) - 2 (E) Engine switch on (IG), front wiper deicer switch off → on 11 to 14 V → Below 1 V (after 12 to 18 minutes: 11 to 14 V)
        5 (IG) - 2 (E) Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

        If the result is not as specified, replace the front wiper deicer switch.

      *a Indicator Light
      *b Illumination

      Check that the indicator light illuminates.


      1. Turn the engine swich on (IG).

      2. Make sure that the indicator light illuminates when the front wiper deicer switch is turned on, and then goes off after approximately 15 minutes elapse.

        OK
        The indicator light goes off.

        If the result is not as specified, replace the front wiper deicer switch.

    4. Check that the illumination illuminates.


      1. Make sure that the illumination illuminates when the headlight dimmer switch is turned from off to tail or head.

        OK
        The illumination illuminates.

        If the result is not as specified, replace the front wiper deicer switch.
