LUBRICATION SYSTEM (w/ EGR Cooler) ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

  1. CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL

    1. Warm up the engine, stop the engine and wait 5 minutes. The oil level should be between the dipstick's low and full level marks.

If the oil level is low, check for leakage and add oil up to the full level mark.

      Note

Do not fill engine oil above the full level mark.

  2. CHECK ENGINE OIL QUALITY

    1. Check the oil for deterioration, water contamination, discoloring or thinning.

If the quality is visibly poor, replace the oil.

      Tech Tips

      • TOYOTA Genuine Motor Oil is in this vehicle when it is shipped.

      • Use TOYOTA Genuine Motor Oil or equivalent to satisfy the following grade and viscosity.

      Oil grade
G-DLD1, API CF-4, CF or ACEA B1 (You may also use API CE or CD)

If using SAE 10W-30 or a higher viscosity engine oil in extremely low temperatures, the engine may become difficult to start. For low temperatures SAE 5W-30 engine oil is recommended.

  3. CHECK OIL PRESSURE

    1. Disconnect the oil pressure switch connector.

    2. Using a 24 mm deep socket wrench, remove the oil pressure switch.

    3. A01E2OME01

      Install the oil pressure gauge.

    4. Warm up the engine.

    5. Measure the oil pressure.

      Standard oil pressure
      Condition Specified Condition
      Idle

      29 kPa (0.3 kgf/cm2, 4.2 psi) or more

      3,000 rpm

      245 kPa (2.5 kgf/cm2, 36 psi) or more

If the oil pressure is not as specified, check the oil pump.

    6. Remove the oil pressure gauge.

  4. INSTALL OIL PRESSURE SWITCH ASSEMBLY

    A01E0NQE01

    1. Apply adhesive to 2 or 3 threads of the oil pressure switch.

      Adhesive
Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1344, Three Bond 1344 or equivalent
    2. Using a 24 mm deep socket wrench, install the oil pressure switch.

      Torque:
      15 N*m  { 152 kgf*cm, 11 ft.*lbf }

      Note

Do not start the engine for at least 1 hour after installation of the switch.

    3. Connect the oil pressure switch connector.

    4. Start the engine and check for engine oil leaks.
