TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE REMOVAL

PROCEDURE

  1. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  2. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY

  3. REMOVE AIR CLEANER FILTER ELEMENT

  4. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE

  5. REMOVE REAR CONSOLE BOX SUB-ASSEMBLY

  6. DISCONNECT TRANSAXLE CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY

    Select Control Cable

    Shift Control Cable

    1. Remove the clip and disconnect the cable end of the select control cable from the floor shift shift lever assembly.

    2. Push the ends of the clip apart, and then disconnect the shift control cable from the floor shift shift control cable assembly.

      Cable Lock

      Lock Nut

      Using a screwdriver, pull out the cable locks of the shift control cable and select control cable.

    4. Rotate the nut clockwise approximately 180° and, while holding the nut in that position, disconnect the shift control cable and select control cable from the floor shift shift lever assembly.

      Note:

      Do not over-rotate the cable lock as it will come off the internal spring and the transaxle control cable assembly will not be reusable.

    5. Remove the shift control cable from the floor shift lever assembly while holding the lock nut.

  7. REMOVE TRANSAXLE CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY

      Remove the 2 clips labeled A and disconnect the 2 transaxle control cables from the manual transaxle assembly.

    2. Remove the 2 clips labeled B and disconnect the 2 transaxle control cables from the control cable bracket.

      Remove the 2 bolts from the retainer.

    4. Pull out the control transaxle control cables from the floor.
