Perform initialization (throttle position) after reconnecting the battery cable or replacing the ECM.
Perform Registration (VIN registration) when replacing the ECM.
If the ECM is replaced, register the ECU communication ID for Engine Immobiliser System.
(refer to the Service Bulletin for registration).
Tech Tips
Initialization cannot be completed by only removing the battery.
DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
Note
After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.
When disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal while performing repairs, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.
