| DTC Code | DTC Name |
|---|---|
| P0106 | Manifold Absolute Pressure / Barometric Pressure Circuit Range / Performance Problem |
DESCRIPTION
The manifold absolute pressure sensor detects the intake manifold pressure as a voltage using a built-in sensor. The ECM calculates intake manifold pressure based on this voltage and also calculates the EGR valve assembly and purge VSV opening amount according to changes in the intake manifold pressure, and detects errors in the pressure sensor using the changes in pressure.
| DTC No. | DTC Detection Condition | Trouble Area |
|---|---|---|
| P0106 | Intake manifold pressure measured after engine start drops by less than 2 kPa(gauge) [15 mmHg(gauge)] compared to the intake manifold pressure (atmospheric pressure) measured before engine start (2 trip detection logic). |
|
MONITOR DESCRIPTION
When the intake manifold pressure measured after engine start drops by less than 2 kPa(gauge) [15 mmHg(gauge)] compared to the intake manifold pressure (atmospheric pressure) measured before engine start, the ECM interprets this as a malfunction in the manifold absolute pressure sensor and stores DTC P0106.

CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN
Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.
Clear the DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC procedure).
Turn the power switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.
Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.
Put the engine in inspection mode (maintenance mode) Click here.
Start the engine and warm it up (until the engine coolant temperature is 75°C (167°F) or higher).
Move the shift lever to N.
Idle the engine for 10 seconds or more [A].
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes [B].
Read the pending DTCs.
Tech Tips
If a pending DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning.
If a pending DTC is not output, perform the following procedure.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Utility / All Readiness.
Input the DTC: P0106.
Check the DTC judgment result.
| Techstream Display | Description |
|---|---|
| NORMAL |
|
| ABNORMAL |
|
| INCOMPLETE |
|
| N/A |
|
Tech Tips
If the judgment result shows NORMAL, the system is normal.
If the judgment result shows ABNORMAL, the system has a malfunction.
If the judgment result shows INCOMPLETE or N/A, perform steps [A] and [B] again.
If no pending DTC is output, perform a universal trip and check for permanent DTCs Click here.
Tech Tips
If a permanent DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning.
If no permanent DTC is output, the system is normal.
INSPECTION PROCEDURE
Tech Tips
Read freeze frame data using the Techstream. The ECM records vehicle and driving condition information as freeze frame data the moment a DTC is stored. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.
PROCEDURE
CHECK ANY OTHER DTC OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P0106)
Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
Read the DTCs.
| Result | Proceed to |
|---|---|
| DTC P0106 is output | A |
| DTC P0106 and other DTCs are output | B |
Tech Tips
If any DTCs other than P0106 are output, troubleshoot those DTCs first.

READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (MAP)
Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / Primary / MAP.
Read the MAP value at power switch on (IG).
Put the engine in inspection mode (maintenance mode) Click here.
Start the engine and warm it up.
Read the MAP value at idling.
