VEHICLE PROXIMITY NOTIFICATION SYSTEM Stop Light Switch Circuit

DESCRIPTION

The vehicle approaching speaker controller detects brake operation by monitoring the signal from the STOP relay. Vehicle approaching speaker operation is enabled when the vehicle approaching speaker controller receives a signal from the STOP relay indicating that the brakes are not applied.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Note

Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.

PROCEDURE

  1. CHECK STOP LIGHT (OPERATION)

    1. Confirm that the stop lights illuminate correctly.

      OK
      Stop light operation is normal
    NG

    GO TO LIGHTING SYSTEM Click here

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (VEHICLE APPROACHING SPEAKER CONTROLLER - STOP RELAY)

    1. Disconnect the I71 vehicle approaching speaker controller connector.

    2. Remove the STOP relay.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I71-2 (STP) - 3 (STOP relay) Always Below 1 Ω
      I71-2 (STP) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    OK
