LIGHTING SYSTEM

  1. FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENTS

    Component Function
Headlight ECU Sub-assembly RH Controls the headlight leveling motor according to control signals from the headlight ECU sub-assembly LH.
    Headlight ECU Sub-assembly LH
    • Receives various signals and controls the headlight leveling motor.

    • Sends headlight leveling motor operation signals to the headlight ECU sub-assembly RH.

Suspension Control ECU*1 Sends the vehicle height value signal to the headlight ECU sub-assembly LH.
    Absorber Control ECU*2
Turn Signal Switch Light Control Switch Sends the light control switch position signal to the steering sensor.
Steering Sensor Sends the light control switch position signal to the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU).
Main Body ECU (Multiplex Network Body ECU) Receives a light control signal and transmits it to the headlight ECU sub-assembly LH.
Skid Control ECU Assembly Sends the vehicle speed signal to the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU).
Combination Meter Assembly Sends the vehicle speed signal to the headlight ECU subassembly LH.
Central Gateway ECU (Network Gateway ECU) Relays the signal between the CAN communication lines.

*1: Models with air suspension system

*2: Models with AVS system (without air suspension system)

  2. SYSTEM CONTROL

    1. Dynamic Control Type

      1. The headlight light control ECU sub-assembly LH receive changes in the height of the vehicle which is detected by the rear height control sensor sub-assembly LH and calculate the change in pitch of the vehicle.

      2. The headlight ECU sub-assemblies adjust the vertical aim of the headlights based on the calculated angle of the vehicle in order to maintain a constant beam angle.

  3. FUNCTION

    1. The height control sensor sub-assembly detects changes in the vehicle's rear ride height due to cargo loads etc., and operates the headlight leveling motor RH/LH in accordance with the changes, keeping the headlight axes at a constant angle.

    2. Combination Meter Assembly

      1. When a malfunction occurs in the automatic headlight beam level control system, the master warning light illuminates, the buzzer sounds, and the "Headlight System Malfunction Visit Your Dealer" warning message is displayed on the multi-information display.

  4. FAIL-SAFE

    1. If the headlight ECU sub-assembly detects a malfunction in the automatic headlight beam level control system, the headlight ECU sub-assembly performs the fail-safe operation. For details, refer to the Repair Manual.
