LIGHTING SYSTEM

  1. FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENTS

    Component Function
Headlight ECU Sub-assembly RH Receives cornering light control signal and illuminates the cornering light.
    Headlight ECU Sub-assembly LH
    • Receives various signals and illuminates the cornering light.

    • Sends the cornering light control signal to the headlight ECU sub-assembly RH.

Turn Signal Switch Light Control Switch Sends the light control switch position signal to the steering sensor.
Turn Signal Switch Sends the turn signal switch position signal to the steering sensor.
Main Body ECU (Multiplex Network Body ECU) Sends lo beam light illumination command signals to the headlight ECU sub-assembly.
    Combination Meter Assembly
    • Sends the turn signal lights control signal to the headlight ECU sub-assembly LH

    • Sends the vehicle speed signal to the headlight ECU sub-assembly LH.

    Steering Sensor
    • Detects the angle of the steering wheel and sends the resulting signals to the headlight ECU sub-assembly LH.

    • Sends the light control switch position signal to the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU).

    • Sends the turn signal switch position signal to the combination meter assembly.

Hybrid Vehicle Control ECU Sends the shift position signals to the headlight ECU subassembly LH.
Skid Control ECU Assembly Sends the wheel speed signal to the combination meter Assembly.
FR Steering Control ECU* Sends the VGRS relative angle signal to the headlight ECU sub-assembly LH.
Central Gateway ECU (Network Gateway ECU) Relays the signal between the CAN communication lines.

    *: Models with VGRS system

  2. SYSTEM CONTROL

    1. Operating Condition

      1. The cornering light of traveling direction illuminates when the following conditions are all met.

        • The power switch is on (IG).

        • Low beam headlights illuminate.

        • The vehicle speed is approximately less than 30 km/h (19 mph).

        • Turn signal switch is on or the steering wheel is operated (the steering angle is 80° or more)

      2. Both side of cornering lights illuminate when the following conditions are all met.

        • The power switch is on (IG).

        • Low beam headlights illuminate.

        • Shift position is in R.

  3. FAIL-SAFE

    1. When a system malfunction is detected, the headlight ECU sub-assembly LH enters fail-safe mode. For details, refer to the Repair Manual.

  4. DIAGNOSTIC

    1. In order to make system inspections easier to perform, a diagnosis function is used in consideration of serviceability. The Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) of malfunctions can be read by connecting the Global TechStream (GTS). For details, refer to the Repair Manual.
