PRE-COLLISION SYSTEM(for Stereo Camera Type)

  1. OPERATING CONDITION

    1. The forward/front side pre-collision system operates when the system is on and it determines that there is a high possibility of a collision with a vehicle approaching from the side of the vehicle. The speeds at which each control operates are as follows.

      Pre-collision Warning

      • Vehicle speed is between approximately 10 km/h and 60 km/h (7 mph and 40 mph).

      • The speed of the approaching vehicle is approximately from 15 km/h to 60 km/h (9mph to 40 mph).

      Pre-collision Brake Assist

      • Vehicle speed is between approximately 30 km/h and 60 km/h (20 mph and 40 mph).

      • The speed of the approaching vehicle is approximately from 15 km/h to 60 km/h (9mph to 40 mph).

    2. The system may not operate in the following situations:

      • If a battery terminal has been disconnected and reconnected and then the vehicle has not been driven for a certain amount of time

      • If the shift position is in R

      • If VSC is disabled (only the pre-collision warning function will be operational)

      • If the PCS warning light is illuminated or flashing

  2. SYSTEM CONTROL

    1. The forward/front side pre-collision system determines whether the vehicle will collide with vehicles approaching from the side, based on information detected by the front side radar sensor, millimeter wave radar sensor assembly and object recognition camera, and from vehicle information signals.

    2. When there is a possibility of a collision, the forward/front side pre-collision system displays messages on the combination meter, headup display and multi display; sounds an alert using the buzzer; and performs pre-collision brake assist control during brake pedal operations. As a result, it provides collision avoidance support and helps to reduce collision damage.

    3. Pre-collision Brake Assist

      1. While the pre-collision system has determined that there is a high possibility of a collision, brake hydraulic pressure assistance is performed when the driver depresses the brake pedal.

    4. Under the following conditions, the front side radar sensor and object recognition camera detects a detectable vehicle, and the forward/front side pre-collision system may operate even if the driver judges that there is no possibility of collision. However, this is not a malfunction.

      • When passing an oncoming vehicle on a narrow road

      • When driving near a wall or pole on the median

      • When passing an oncoming vehicle on a sharp curve

      • When passing an approaching vehicle making a right or left turn [Case 1]

      • When passing in front of a vehicle approaching from the side [Case 2]

      • When turning right or left while a vehicle is approaching from the side [Case 3]

      • When slipping past a vehicle, etc. parked on the road from the side

      • When passing an oncoming vehicle on a winding curve
