STEERING COLUMN SYSTEM

  1. OUTLINE

    1. A power tilt and telescopic system, which allows the driver to set the steering column to the desired position, is used. The telescopic stroke has been extended, achieving a wide range of driving positions.

    2. A power easy access system is used to automatically move the seat and steering wheel when entering and exiting the vehicle. The steering wheel automatic control (auto away and auto return) and memory control are used to ensure superior operability and accessibility.

      Tech Tips

The default setting for the telescopic system is set to not activate for steering wheel automatic control (auto away and auto return). The user can change the activation setting (activate/not activate) using the customization function. Refer to the Repair Manual for the details on the customization function.

    3. An energy absorbing mechanism is used for the steering column assembly, and a retraction mechanism is used for the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly*1 and steering actuator assembly*2 in consideration of the driver's safety during a collision.
