LANE TRACING ASSIST SYSTEM

  1. CONSTRUCTION

    1. A steering wheel grip detection sensor is installed to detect that the driver is holding the steering wheel.

    2. The steering wheel grip detection sensor uses the steering heater line to detect the electrostatic capacitance generated when the driver lightly grips the steering wheel and judges that the driver is holding the steering wheel.

    3. The entire circumference of the steering wheel where the steering heater line is routed forms the detection area.

      Tech Tips

The outer diameter area of the steering wheel has a low sensitivity level to avoid mistakenly detecting the driver's legs and stomach instead of hands.

    4. Detection cannot be performed in the following areas where the steering wheel heater line is not routed.

      Undetectable Area

      • The top and bottom area of the steering wheel, which have joints of the steering wheel heater line

      • Seam lines of the steering wheel leather

      • Spokes and switch areas

      • Wood areas*
