OUTLINE
The electronic shift lever system is a shift control system using a shift-by-wire technology.
In this system, the shift control ECU determines the vehicle condition based on information from sensors, switches and ECUs and performs the appropriate shift control according to driver shift lever and P position switch operations.
A momentary type shift lever, a shift knob achieving both operability and a good design and a shift position indicator that is integrated with a P position switch are used and driving-related switches are positioned around the steering wheel to achieve superior operability.
A sub-battery system is used. The sub-battery system supplies power to the shift control ECU and shift control actuator assembly in order to perform parking lock even when the voltage of the auxiliary battery is low. For details on the sub-battery system, see the BATTERY / CHARGING (8GR-FXS) section.
