OUTLINE
The cruise control system is controlled by the hybrid vehicle control ECU.
The cruise control system is designed to help reduce driver fatigue by helping to control the vehicle to a speed chosen by the driver. Once the cruise control system is set to the desired vehicle speed, the hybrid vehicle control ECU automatically regulates the motive force to maintain the set vehicle speed without any accelerator pedal operation.
PRECAUTION
Cruise Control System
Observe the following precautions when using the cruise control system:
Turn the cruise control main switch off when the cruise control system is not being used.
Beware of a possible increase in vehicle speed when driving downhill (if the vehicle speed increases excessively, cancel the cruise control system and shift down to decelerate with the engine brake).
If the cruise control indicator turns off while the cruise control system is on, first turn the cruise control system off. Then, turn the cruise control system back on. If the cruise control indicator continues to turns off after performing the above, there may be a malfunction in the system.
Do not use the cruise control system under the following road and vehicle conditions:
Roads with heavy traffic
Steep downhill slopes
Roads with sharp bends
Winding roads
Frozen or snowy roads
Slippery road surfaces
When towing something
Set the vehicle speed appropriately in consideration of factors such as the speed limit, flow of traffic, road surface conditions and weather. The driver must confirm the set vehicle speed.
