INTERIOR

  1. OUTLINE

    1. Design Theme

      1. PROGRESSIVE COMFORT

        • An interior design that fuses the concept of a cockpit where the driver can devote concentration to the road with the superior comfort appropriate for a luxury sedan was pursued.

    2. Further Evolved Lexus HMI*: Seat in Control

      Tech Tips

*: Human Machine Interface. A general term that describes the interfaces of machines and programs that transmit "requests from humans to machines" or "information from machines to humans".

      1. The Lexus HMI concept is based on the ideal interior for humans. The aim is to create an HMI environment that is fused with an HMI function area surrounding the seat so that driver concentration and safety can be improved and the driver can control the vehicle using only their fingertips while sitting in the driver's seat without changing their posture or moving their eyes.

        • Functions related to driving operations are centered on the steering wheel.

        • The height of the display zone (combination meter assembly, clock assembly and multimedia module display) is unified to reduce vertical eye movement.

        • The operation panel of the operation zone is simplified and positioned within easy reach.

    3. Driving Atmosphere with Superior Sense of Support (Achieves Snug Roominess)

      1. The upper part uses a sleek instrument panel and door trim structure that is placed along a horizontal axis to create a sense of roominess (A in illustration).

      2. The lower part uses a thick and soft console and armrest to securely support the lower halves of passengers, creating a comfortable sense of security (B in illustration).

        B003IOQN01
    4. Instrument Panel Design that Expresses Original Lexus Atmosphere and HMI

      1. An atmosphere that harmonizes roominess and a sense of security is expressed through structural beauty that incorporates HMI zoning. Specifically, it consists of a 2-layer delicate and strong instrument panel that is positioned on a horizontal axis and has the display zone, which has a uniform height, inserted into it. The shape of the instrument panel, which flows from the combination meter hood and register to the door trim, and the wood grain ornamentation positioned at the end of this flowing shape express a roominess that is greater than its actual length.

      2. A dignified and refined structure, which beautifully harmonizes the contrast between the sleek and spacious instrument panel and the thick console and door trim and is appropriate for a Lexus flagship model, is expressed.

        B003IO2
    5. Door Trim that Expresses Atmosphere through its Seamless Structure with Instrument Panel

      1. The door trim is shaped to continue from the instrument panel and uses the same materials, expressing the roominess of the cabin. In addition, the original structure of the ornamentation panels for the wood grain specification uses a thin and vertically long wood grain, patterned after traditional Japanese bent wood, in pursuit of Lexus originality and a sense of high-quality (A in illustration).

      2. The wide armrest that expresses the original "Seat in Control" concept ensures a competitor top-class level of armrest width and is shaped to securely support occupants' elbows.

      3. The entire trim uses 3 lines of quilting processing* that appear to ripple outward from the ornamentation panel, expressing an elegant and comfortable atmosphere (B in illustration).

    6. Calm and Relaxing Rear Seat Atmosphere

      1. The rear seats are shaped to pursue an atmosphere that provides the sense that the upper parts are visually wrapping around the occupants and emphasize continuity from the door trim to the lower part of the center body pillar, interior panels and front seatbacks while ensuring the front/rear dimensions necessary to achieve a top-class level of comfort (A in illustration). The lower part uses a thick and soft console and armrest to securely support the lower halves of passengers, creating a comfortable sense of security in the same way as the front seats (B in illustration).

  2. MAIN FEATURES

    1. Instrument Panel

      1. Stylish plated ornamentation that expresses functional beauty runs from the center of the instrument panel to the passenger side. The instrument panel design uses immobile fins with sharp cross sections (instrument panel register bezel garnish) and hides the fins of the instrument panel register assembly center further inward to create a design that does not disrupt the lines of the surrounding ornamentation, even when the air flow direction is adjusted.

      1. General

        • New wood grain processing is used to unify the outer circumference that is wrapped in genuine leather and achieve a superior operation feeling, even when the steering wheel is fully turned to either side.

        • The cruise control switch unifies the operations that are gathered together inside the steering wheel. As a result, the expanded switch areas are laid out horizontally and made sleek so that they can be installed in the bases of the left and right spokes, achieving a superior grip feeling.

        • A 3-spoke steering wheel with a small diameter is used to emphasize sportiness. The spokes are designed to achieve the strength and elegance appropriate for a flagship model according to their laterally-extending solid structures and use of flexible metal ornamentation.

      2. Genuine Leather Specification

    13. Safety Features

      1. An impact absorbing structure is used which ensures an impact reducing area for when an occupant's head, etc., impacts the pillar and roof side due to a collision. Energy absorbing pads are provided inside the garnish, which has a rib structure, and the roof headlining. The pads collapse during a collision to reduce the impact to the occupant's head, etc.
