  1. CONSTRUCTION


    1. Rear pop up hood lifters, which raise the rear portion of the engine hood, are positioned inside the rear of the engine hood on the hood hinge assemblies on the left and right sides.

    2. A non-disassembly type rear pop up hood lifter, which is composed of a case, inflator and piston, is used.

  2. OPERATION


    1. When the pedestrian protection sensor detects a collision, the rear pop up hood lifter starts to operate.

    2. When the rear pop up hood lifter extends, the shear pin that fixes the arm of the hood hinge assembly breaks into 2 pieces and the arm separates.
