PEDESTRIAN PROTECTION SYSTEM


  1. OUTLINE


    1. A pop up hood system, which operates when a pedestrian collides with the vehicle to reduce the impact to the head by raising the entire engine hood to ensure space in the engine compartment, is used.

    2. The pop up hood system is composed of a pedestrian detection ECU assembly, pedestrian protection sensors, a pedestrian detection chamber, front pop up hood lifters and rear pop up hood lifters.

    Pop Up Hood System
    Front Pop Up Hood Raises the front portion of the hood to ensure space in the engine compartment and reduce the impact to the head of the pedestrian when a collision occurs from the front.
    Rear Pop Up Hood Raises the rear portion of the hood to ensure space in the engine compartment and reduce the impact to the head of the pedestrian when a collision occurs from the front.

  3. PRECAUTION


    1. When the engine hood lock is released after the pop up hood lifters operate, the engine hood may rise higher than normal.
