CONSTRUCTION
The shift lever position sensor detects the left and right movement (select stroke) and up and down movement (shift stroke) of the shift lever and outputs a signal to the shift control ECU in accordance with the shift lever operation.
Reliability of the shift lever position sensor is ensured by utilizing 4 Hall ICs to output 4 signals.
The shift control ECU detects the R, N, D, M or home position of the shift lever by determining the majority of 4 signals (the position is determined when 3 signals output the same position).

Tech Tips
Do not disassemble the shift lever position sensor.
Do not remove the shift lever position sensor from the transmission floor shift assembly. The shift lever position sensor cannot be replaced individually.
