    1. V35A-FTS Engine


      1. The V35A-FTS engine is an in-line, 6-cylinder, 3.5-liter, 24 valve DOHC, turbocharged engine with intercooler. This engine is a Direct injection 4-stroke gasoline engine Superior version (D-4S) which uses both direct injection and port injection systems. In addition, this engine uses the Dual Variable Valve Timing-intelligent (Dual VVT-i), Direct Ignition System (DIS), Electronic Throttle Control System-intelligent (ETCS-i). It has been developed to achieve high performance, quietness, fuel economy and clean emissions.

      2. This engine uses ESTEC D-4ST.

As a result, fuel economy and low-speed torque are achieved.

      1. The 8GR-FKS engine is a V-type, 6-cylinder, 3.5-liter, 24-valve DOHC engine.     10. Drive Mode Select


      1. The drive mode select is a function where control characteristics switches of the powertrain (engine control system), chassis [Adaptive Variable Suspension system (AVS)*1, Electric Power Steering (EPS) system, LEXUS Dynamic Handling (LDH) system*2, Active Stabilizer Suspension System*3] and air conditioning (air conditioning system) are integrated. This function optimally controls each system according to the driving mode selected by the driver.

      3. The control characteristics in each drive mode are as follows:

        Normal Performs control for normal driving.
        Eco Performs control for driving with improved fuel efficiency by generating torque more gently than Normal mode according to accelerator pedal depression while suppressing air conditioning cooling and heating operations.
        Sport S Improves accelerator response by controlling the transmission and engine to perform control for driving that requires powerful acceleration.
        Sport S+ Comprehensively controls the AVS, EPS system and LDH system*1 in addition to the transmission and engine control system of Sport S mode to ensure maneuverability and stability to perform control for sporty driving.
        Sport S+*2 Comprehensively controls the AVS, EPS system, LDH system and active stabilizer suspension system in addition to the transmission and engine control system of Sport S mode, achieving high levels of maneuverability, stability and riding comfort. As a result, control is performed to enable sporty driving while also ensuring ride comfort is maintained.
        Comfort Mainly uses the lower damping force range with the Adaptive Variable Suspension System (AVS) compared to Normal mode, performing control to achieve a comfortable ride.
        Comfort*2 Comprehensively controls the AVS, LDH system and active stabilizer suspension system to suppress the vehicle movement (lateral, roll and pitch) and performs control that focuses on delivering comfort for the rear seats appropriate for a flagship model.

        Models without AVS
        Drive Mode Control Characteristics
        Normal Performs control for normal driving.
        Eco Performs control for driving with improved fuel efficiency by generating torque more gently than Normal mode according to accelerator pedal depression while suppressing air conditioning cooling and heating operations.
        Sport Performs control suitable for sporty driving by improving the acceleration response by controlling the transmission and engine and also improving the steering feeling.
      4. Custom mode is provided on models with AVS. Custom mode is a function where the control characteristics of each system can be freely selected and combined by the driver. Powertrain (Normal/Eco/Power), chassis (Normal/Sport/Comfort) and air conditioning (Normal/Eco) combinations can be freely selected to support the specific needs of the driver. Refer to the Repair Manual for the details of the custom mode setting method.

        When Power is selected for the powertrain in custom mode, the control characteristic of the transmission and engine control system is set to Power1.
