SFI SYSTEM

  1. OPERATION

    1. The exhaust change valve driver receives signals from the opening angle sensor built into the exhaust pipe gas control actuator sub-assembly and sends exhaust change valve status signals to the ECM. The exhaust change valve driver operates the drive motor built into the exhaust pipe gas control actuator sub-assembly according to open/close command signals from the ECM causing the exhaust change valve to open and close.

    2. When the exhaust change valve is closed, exhaust gas is passed through the silencer and discharged to ensure quietness. When the exhaust change valve is open, a large amount of exhaust gas is directly discharged to emphasize the exhaust sound.

    3. While Vehicle is Stopped

      1. When Engine is Stopped/Started/Idling

        Engine Condition Exhaust Change Valve
Stopped (Engine Switch Off) Fully Open
Started Fully Open → Fully Closed Approximately 5 Seconds after Engine Start Determined
        Idling Fully Closed
Stopped (Engine Switch On (IG) → Engine Switch Off) Fully Closed → Fully Open
      2. When Engine Speed is High

        Engine Condition Exhaust Change Valve

    5. Blipping Control-linked Operation

      1. When blipping control for automatic transmission control is performed, the exhaust change valve is opened and closed as follows:

        Operating Condition Exhaust Change Valve

The following conditions are all met:

        • Vehicle speed is 45 km/h or more

        • Engine speed is 4600 rpm or less

        • Downshifting

        Exhaust Change Valve Opened

Fully Opened Condition Maintained for Approximately 3 Seconds

        Exhaust Change Valve Closed

    6. Driver Intention/Driving Scene Support Control-linked Operation

      1. When driver intention/driving scene support control for automatic transmission control is performed, the exhaust change valve is opened and closed in accordance with driver intention/driving scene support control.
