| Height Control Sensor Sub-assembly | Detects vehicle height value and transmits a signal to the absorber control ECU |
| Main Body ECU (Multiplex Network Body ECU) | Receives a light control signal and transmits it to the No. 1 headlight ECU sub-assembly LH. |
| Skid Control ECU Assembly | Sends the vehicle speed signal to the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU). |
| Steering Sensor | Sends the light control switch position signal to the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU). |
SYSTEM CONTROL
The No. 1 headlight ECU sub-assembly LH receives vehicle height change signals sent from the rear height control sensor sub-assembly and calculates the changes in the pitch angle of the vehicle. The No. 1 headlight ECU sub-assembly LH/RH drives the headlight leveling motor LH/RH in accordance with the change.
| Control Mode | Details |
|---|---|
| While Stopped | If the vehicle attitude is stable for approximately 3 seconds with the headlights on while stopped, the No. 1 headlight ECU sub-assembly LH/RH operates the headlight leveling motor LH/RH in accordance with the detected change in vehicle attitude. |
FUNCTION
The height control sensor sub-assembly detects changes in the vehicle's rear ride height due to cargo loads etc., and operates the headlight leveling motor RH/LH in accordance with the changes, keeping the headlight axes at a constant angle.
Depending on the specification of the vehicle, either dynamic control which maintains a constant beam angle, or static control which adjusts the beam angle only when the vehicle is stopped, is used.
FAIL-SAFE
If the No. 1 headlight ECU sub-assembly LH detects a malfunction in the automatic headlight beam level control system, the No. 1 headlight ECU sub-assembly LH performs the fail-safe operation. For details, refer to the Repair Manual.
Combination Meter Assembly
When a malfunction occurs in the automatic headlight beam level control system, the master warning light illuminates, the buzzer sounds, and the "Headlight System Malfunction Visit Your Dealer" warning message is displayed on the multi-information display.
DIAGNOSIS
In order to make system inspections easier to perform, a diagnosis function is used in consideration of serviceability. The Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) of malfunctions can be read by connecting the Global TechStream (GTS). For details, refer to the Repair Manual.
