AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM

  1. OUTLINE

    1. The automatic air conditioning system uses left and right independent temperature control and neural network control to enhance comfort.

    2. An inside-and-outside dual air layer type air conditioning unit is used. The upper layer ensures anti fogging performance by introducing outside air, and the lower layer aims for ventilation loss reduction by circulating the inside air, thus achieving energy conservation.

    3. The automatic air conditioning system control has been added to the Climate Concierge control in conjunction with the seat heater system*1, climate control seat system and steering wheel heater system*2.

  3. MAIN FEATURES

    1. The air conditioning system has the following features:

      Feature Outline
      High Performance
      • Neural network control is used, so passengers can finely control the air conditioning for maximum comfort.

      • A high efficiency type air refiner element (clean air filter), which has a pollen-and-odor removal effect, is used.

      • Pollen Removal Mode Control control is used to remove pollen in the area around the upper part of the bodies of the driver and front passenger.

      • The blower control has 7 levels in manual mode and 31 levels in auto mode for more precise control.

      • The Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC) heater system is used. This system contains a PTC heater that heats the air that has passed through the heater radiator unit sub-assembly to ensure proper heater performance.*1

      • A [nanoe]*2 generator is provided under the multi-media module receiver assembly to improve the air quality and comfort in the cabin.

      Light Weight
      • A bus connector with a built-in IC is used in a lightweight wire harness design to allow a reduced number of wires.

      • The use of this connector means that pulse pattern type servo motors can be used.

Compact A blower motor with a built-in blower motor controller is used to achieve a compact construction.
      Others

The following parts are used to ensure high cooling performance while achieving a compact and lightweight construction:

      • Semi-center Location Air Conditioning Unit

      • ESB27C Type Compressor

      • Beneficial Refrigerant Stream (BRS) Evaporator

      • Straight Flow Aluminum (SFA)-II Heater Radiator Sub-assembly

      • Multi-Flow IV (MF-IV) Sub-cool Condenser

  4. PRECAUTION

    1. Precaution for Refrigerant HFO-1234yf (R1234yf)

      1. Compatibility

        1. The parts used in the refrigerant cycle, the compressor oil, etc. of the HFO-1234yf (R1234yf) system are not compatible with the conventional HFC-134a (R134a) system.

        2. Always use HFO-1234yf (R1234yf) as the refrigerant.

        CAUTION:

        • Do not charge the system with refrigerant near open flames, as HFO-1234yf (R1234yf) is combustible.

        • When charging the system with refrigerant, make sure the area is well ventilated (especially be careful in areas where the gas can easily accumulate such as under lifts and in garage pits, as the gas is heavier than air).

        • Follow any local regulations regarding combustible gases.

        • Be sure to use a refrigerant recovery unit that is compatible with HFO-1234yf (R1234yf) systems.

        Tech Tips

The shape of the service port for refrigerant charging has an exclusive design conforming to international standards for HFO-1234yf (R1234yf) to prevent improper refrigerant charging.

      2. Compressor Oil

        1. Always use ND-OIL 11 as the compressor oil.

        2. When parts of the air conditioning system are removed, quickly block off any areas that are exposed to the outside air with plugs, vinyl tape, etc., as the oil used for HFO-1234yf (R1234yf) systems absorbs moisture easily.

        3. Do not allow the compressor oil to spray, as the oil used for HFO-1234yf (R1234yf) systems has harmful effects on acrylic resins.

    2. Door Control Receiver Expressions

      1. The type of door control receiver used on this model differs according to the specifications of the vehicles. The expressions listed in the table below are used in this section:

Vehicle Specification Part Name in Manual Actual Part Name
Models with Integrated Type Tire Pressure Warning ECU and Receiver Door Control Receiver Electrical Key and TPMS Receiver Assembly
Models with Separated Type Tire Pressure Warning ECU and Receiver Door Control Receiver
