  1. OUTLINE

    1. Hybrid System

      1. The hybrid system of this hybrid vehicle employs the Toyota Hybrid System-II (THS-II) under the "Hybrid Synergy Drive" concept*.

      2. Toyota Hybrid System-II (THS-II) optimally performs cooperative control of the 2ZR-FXE engine, Motor Generator No. 1 (MG1) and Motor Generator No. 2 (MG2) in the P610 hybrid transaxle that provides excellent transmission performance for the front wheel drive system.

      3. The hybrid system uses a high-output HV battery with a nominal voltage of DC 201.6, and available voltage system in which a boost converter increases the operating voltage of the system to a maximum voltage of DC 600 V.

        Tech Tips

*: The "Hybrid Synergy Drive" concept consists of 4 key benefits: Fuel efficiency, low emissions, seamless acceleration, and silent performance.

    2. 2ZR-FXE Engine

      1. The 2ZR-FXE engine is an in-line 4-cylinder, 1.8-liter, 16-valve DOHC engine. This engine uses a high-expansion ratio Atkinson cycle, Variable Valve Timing-intelligent (VVT-i) system, Direct Ignition System (DIS), Electronic Throttle Control System-intelligent (ETCS-i) and Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system employing a highly efficient EGR cooler. In addition, use of an electric water pump has enhanced warm-up performance and reduced cooling losses. Thus, improved engine performance, quietness, fuel economy, and cleaner emissions have been achieved.

    4. Suspension

      1. A MacPherson strut type independent suspension, which has L-type lower arms, is used for front.

      2. A double-wishbone type independent suspension, which consists of an upper control arm, 2 lower suspension arms and a trailing arm, is used for rear.

    5. Brake

      1. A ventilated disc brake is provided for the front brake.

      2. A solid disc brake equipped with brake caliper-with-parking brake actuator is provided for the rear brake.

      3. The following brake control systems are provided: Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist, Traction Control (TRAC), Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), VSC and Cooperative Control with VSC+ and Hill-start Assist Control.

      4. An electric parking brake system, which allows the parking brake to be locked and released using a switch, is provided.

    6. Steering

      1. A rack and pinion type steering gear assembly is used.

      2. An Electric Power Steering (EPS) system is used.

      3. A manual tilt and manual telescopic system is used.

      4. A heated steering wheel system is used.
