FRONT SUSPENSION SYSTEM

  1. CONSTRUCTION

    1. A split-input type structure is adopted for the front suspension support sub-assembly to ensure excellent quietness and ride comfort.

    2. Through optimization of the rigidity of the rubber of the front suspension support sub-assembly, vibrations from the road surface are reduced while maintaining steering response and achieving excellent controllability and ride comfort.

    3. A urethane front spring bumper is used to attain non-linear damping force characteristics, which reduces the impact generated when the suspension reaches full travel, ensuring both roll rigidity when turning and smoother ride comfort.

    4. A lateral force reduction spring has been adopted for the front coil spring. The center axis of the lateral force reduction spring is offset from the center of the strut axis to control the reaction force orbit in order to reduce the bending moment applied to the shock absorber. This results in less stroke friction which ensures excellent ride comfort.

    5. A semi-airtight shock absorber dust cover which moves with the shock absorber has been adopted. The top of the semi-airtight shock absorber dust cover is attached to the absorber cap and the bottom is attached to the strut mounting. This reduces the gap between the shock absorber dust cover and shock absorber assembly, enhancing its ability to resist the intrusion of foreign matter.

    6. The spring rate of the front coil spring is optimized to achieve excellent ride comfort.

    7. The strut mounting bearing axis is aligned with the king pin axis. The load of the strut mounting bearing has been minimized to enhance controllability, and the moment about the king pin axis has been decreased to reduce the difference between the left and right steering assist forces.

    8. Split-input Type Structure

      1. Input from the shock absorber assembly and front spring bumper is transferred through the rubber of the front suspension support sub-assembly to the vehicle body.

      2. Input from the front coil spring is transferred through the metal part of the strut mounting bearing and front suspension support sub-assembly to the vehicle body.

      3. The input from the front shock absorber assembly and front spring bumper and the input from the front coil spring are absorbed separately, realizing excellent quietness and ride comfort.
