STOP AND START SYSTEM


  1. OPERATION


    1. The combination meter assembly receives the idling on/off signals from the engine stop and start ECU.

    2. Operating the steering pad switch assembly and selecting the drive information tab on the multi-information display changes to the stop and start screen.

    3. The system operation status or warning information is indicated to the driver through the following means:


      1. Illuminating or blinking the stop and start indicator light and stop and start cancel indicator light.

      2. Sounding a buzzer.

      3. Displaying other information on the multi-information display.

        Multi-information Display Function
        Item Function
        Idling Stop Time after Engine Start Idling stop time since last time ignition switch turned ON.
        Idling Stop Time after Reset Idling stop time since counter was last reset.
        Fuel Saved after Engine Start Amount of fuel saved since last time ignition switch turned ON.
        Fuel Saved after Reset Amount of fuel saved since counter was last reset.
        Current Vehicle Stop Idling Stop Time Interrupt Display Receives idling stop signal from engine stop and start ECU and displays idling stop time.
        Warning/Advice Interrupt Display Warning/advice display.
        Setting Screen Vehicle Settings Stop & Start Duration: Switches between "Standard"/"Extended" modes.
        Meter Settings

        Drive Info 3 (Drive Information 3): 2 items can be selected among the following.


        • Total idling stop time after reset

        • Total idling stop time after engine start

        • Total amount of saving fuel after reset by idling stop

        • Total amount of saving fuel after engine start by idling stop

        Pop-up Display (Interruption Display): Switches between display/non-display of the current vehicle stop idling stop time interrupt display and warning/advice interrupt display.
        Stop and Start Indicator Light Operation

        System Operating (Engine is stopped) The vehicle is operating normally. Illuminates Does not sound
        The shift lever is operated without depressing the clutch pedal. Blinks Sounds

        The vehicle is stopped and system operation conditions are met. Does not illuminate
        When the stop and start cancel switch is on. Illuminates
        When any Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTCs) are detected. Blinks
        When the number of times the starter assembly has been operated exceeds the threshold.
        Multi-information Display Operation
        Stop and Start System Condition Multi-information Display Message Vehicle Condition
        When the engine cannot be stopped by the stop and start system. For Climate Control
        • The air conditioning system is being used when the ambient temperature is high or low.

        • Windshield defogger is pressed.

        Battery Charging
        • The battery charge amount may be low.

        • A refresh charge may be occurring.

        For Brake System
        • The vehicle is being drive in a high altitude area.

        • The brake booster vacuum is low.

        Hood Open The hood has been opened.
        Driver Seat Belt Unbuckled The driver seat belt is not fastened.
        Non-Dedicated Battery A non-specified battery for the stop and start system may have been installed.
        Steering Wheel Turned The steering wheel has been operated.
        Stop and Start Unavailable The engine may have been started with the hood opened.
        System Temp Low The battery may be cold.
        System Temp High The battery may be extremely hot.
        When the engine automatically restarts while stopped by the stop and start system. For Climate Control
        • The air conditioning system is turned on or the air conditioning is being used.

        • Windshield defogger is turned on.

        For Brake System The brake pedal has been depressed further or pumped.
        Battery Charging The battery charge amount may be low.
        Steering Wheel Turned The steering wheel is operated.
        Driver Seat Belt Unbuckled The driver seat belt is not fastened.
        Display of prohibition status of engine restart during idling stop operation. Stop & Start System Active Shift to N and Depress Clutch to Restart The shift lever is moved from N to another position without depressing the clutch pedal.
