CONSTRUCTION
A single-piece, aluminum die-cast timing chain or belt cover sub-assembly that entirely seals the front portion of the cylinder head sub-assembly, cylinder block sub-assembly and stiffening crankcase assembly is used.
The cooling system (engine water pump assembly and water inlet housing) has been integrated into the timing chain or belt cover sub-assembly, and the volute chamber and coolant passages have been optimized to achieve an Engine Front Module (EFM) with simpler coolant passages and a lightweight design. A simpler lubricant oil passage has been achieved by integrating it into the timing chain or belt cover sub-assembly. (b)
The No. 1 chain tensioner assembly lubricant oil passage, installation base, pressure sensor switch installation base, and temperature sensor installation base have been integrated into the timing chain or belt cover sub-assembly to achieve a simpler lubricant passage and lightweight design. (c)
