FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENTS
The main components of the evaporative emission control system are as follows:
| Component | Function | |
|---|---|---|
| Fuel Suction Tube with Pump and Gauge Assembly | Charcoal Canister | Contains activated charcoal to absorb the fuel vapors that are created in the fuel tank assembly. |
| Purge VSV (No. 1 Vacuum Switching Valve Assembly) | Opens and closes the valve based on signals from the ECM and controls the flow rate of the evaporative emission. | |
| ECM | Controls the purge VSV (No. 1 vacuum switching valve assembly) in accordance with the signals from various sensors, in order to achieve a purge volume that suits the driving conditions. | |
SYSTEM CONTROL
The ECM controls the purge flow of the evaporative emissions (HC) from the charcoal canister in accordance with engine conditions.
