    1. 3ZR-FAE Engine


      1. The 3ZR-FAE engine is an in-line 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter, 16-valve DOHC engine. This engine uses the VALVEMATIC system, dual Variable Valve Timing-intelligent (VVT-i) system, Direct Ignition System (DIS) and Electronic Throttle Control System-intelligent (ETCS-i). They have been developed to achieve high performance and fuel economy, and to reduce exhaust emissions.

    2. 8NR-FTS Engine


      1. The 8NR-FTS engine is an in-line, 4-cylinder, 1.2-liter, 16-valve DOHC, turbocharged engine with intercooler. This engine is a Direct injection 4-stroke gasoline engine (D-4). In addition, this engine uses the Variable Valve Timing-intelligent Wide (VVT-iW) control, Variable Valve Timing-intelligent (VVT-i) control, Direct Ignition System (DIS), Electronic Throttle Control System-intelligent (ETCS-i). It has been developed to achieve high performance, quietness, fuel economy and clean emissions.

      2. This engine uses ESTEC D-4T.

        • Economy with Superior Thermal Efficient Combustion (ESTEC): An engine series which achieves thermal efficiency (fuel economy) improvements through continuous improvements to engine combustion.

        • Direct injection 4-stroke gasoline engine with Turbo (D-4T): A direct injection technology which uses a system to comprehensively perform supercharging control for the D-4 system and turbocharger to achieve a higher dimension of high tumble flow and turbo pressure control by optimizing the cylinder head ports and shape of the piston faces. As a result, fuel economy and low-speed torque are achieved.

    4. K114 Multidrive/Continuously Variable Transaxle (CVT)


      1. A K114 Multidrive/Continuously Variable Transaxle (CVT) is used on CVT models with the 3ZRFAE engine.

      2. The K114 CVT, which includes a pair of pulleys and a steel belt in the shift mechanism, is a transaxle which steplessly shifts from starting off to the maximum speed, offering a smooth shift feeling and excellent fuel economy.

    5. K313 and K313F Multidrive/Continuously Variable Transaxle (CVT)


      1. A K313 or K313F Multidrive/Continuously Variable Transaxle (CVT) is used on CVT models with the 8NR-FTS engine.

    6. Suspension


      1. A MacPherson strut type independent suspension, which has L-type lower arms, is used for front.

      2. A double-wishbone type independent suspension, which consists of an upper control arm, 2 lower suspension arms and a trailing arm, is used for rear.

    7. Steering


      1. A rack and pinion type steering gear assembly is used.

      2. An Electric Power Steering (EPS) system is used.

      3. A manual tilt and telescopic mechanism is used.

      4. A heated steering wheel system is used.

    8. Brake


      1. A ventilated disc brake is provided for the front brake.

      2. A solid disc brake equipped with brake caliper with parking brake actuator is provided for the rear brake.

      3. The following brake control systems are provided: Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist, Traction Control (TRC), Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), VSC and Cooperative Control with EPS*1 or VSC+*2, Hill-start Assist Control and Brake Hold.
