  1. CONSTRUCTION


    1. The gear layout is a 4th gear direct coupling and double overdrive (5th and 6th gears) type. All forward gears have been made the constant mesh type, achieving excellent quietness.

    2. The gear train uses an output reduction method. Accordingly the output shaft is equipped with a reduction gear. The input torque from the engine is increased by the reduction gear after the input torque acts on each drive and driven gear. This reduces the width of the teeth needed on each gear, allowing a smaller and lighter gear train to be produced.

    3. The gear layout positions the drive and driven gears in front of the reduction gear, decreasing the moment of inertia and reducing shifting effort.

    4. A friction damper is provided on the reverse idler gear shaft to reduce noise and vibration occurring from the gear tooth clearance.
