CONSTRUCTION
The camshafts are made of cast iron alloy.
In conjunction with the use of the Dual Variable Valve Timing-intelligent (Dual VVT-i) system, an oil passage is provided in the intake and exhaust camshafts in order to supply engine oil pressure to the Dual VVT-i system.
Each VVT-i controller has been installed on the front of the intake and exhaust camshafts to vary the timing of the intake and exhaust valves.
To detect the intake camshaft position, a timing rotor is provided in front of the intake VVT-i controller. To detect the exhaust camshaft position, a timing rotor is provided on the exhaust camshaft. These timing rotors are used by the cam position sensor to detect the actual position of the intake and exhaust camshafts.
