LIGHTING SYSTEM


  1. FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENTS

    Component Function
    Body ECU Receives various signals and illuminates the headlights, taillights, clearance lights, license plate lights and front fog lights.
    Automatic Light Control Sensor Detects the ambient light level.
    Headlight Dimmer Switch Assembly Outputs a light control signal to the body ECU.
    Front Door Courtesy Light Switch Assembly (RH) Detects whether a door is open or closed and transmits a signal to the body ECU.
    H-LP Relay/DIMMER Relay Supplies power to the headlights.
    TAIL Relay Supplies power to the taillights, clearance lights and license plate lights.
    FOG FR Relay* Supplies power to the front fog lights.

    1. Operating Condition


      1. The automatic light control system operates as follows:

        Function Outline
        Taillights turn on

        When all of the following conditions are met, the taillights, side marker lights, clearance lights, front fog lights* and license plate lights automatically turn on:


        • The ambient light is dim or momentarily dark.

        • The ignition switch is ON.

        • The light control switch is in the AUTO position.

        Headlights and taillights turn on

        When all of the following conditions are met, the headlights, taillights, side marker lights, clearance lights, front fog lights* and license plate lights automatically turn on:


        • The ambient light is dark or momentarily bright.

        • The ignition switch is ON.

        • The light control switch is in the AUTO position.

        Headlights and taillights turn off When the ambient light is bright, the exterior lights automatically turn off.

        *: The front fog light switch is on position (models with front fog light).
