OUTLINE
A compact and lightweight part-time 2-speed VF2CM transfer is used.
A motor operation type 4WD control system is used, which uses the transfer shift actuator assembly.
An Automatic Disconnecting Differential (A.D.D.) actuator (differential motor actuator assembly) is used.
This 4WD control system has a 4 wheel drive control ECU which controls the transfer shift actuator assembly and A.D.D. actuator (differential motor actuator assembly) to switch between 3 transfer modes (H2, H4 or L4).
An oil temperature warning system is provided, which monitors the front differential oil temperature when driving in 4WD using a temperature sensor positioned in the front differential.

MAIN FEATURES
Transfer Mode Features
| Transfer Mode | Transfer Gear Ratio | Drive Type | Features |
|---|---|---|---|
| H2 | High | 2WD | This is used for normal driving on dry hard-surfaced roads. This mode gives greater economy, the quietest ride and the least wear. |
| H4 | High | 4WD | This is used for driving only on tracks that permit the tires to slide, such as off-road, icy or snow-covered roads. This mode provides greater traction than 2WD. |
| L4 | Low | 4WD | This is used for maximum power and traction. L4 is used for climbing or descending steep hills, off-road driving and hard pulling in sand, mud or deep snow. |
PRECAUTION
When driving on dry paved surface roads and expressway use H2 position. If the vehicle is driven in H4 or L4 position for a long time, a warning buzzer sounds and a warning message is shown in the multi-information display. In this case, follow the displayed message.
