Aim of Interior Design
As with the exterior design, Prius' interior design aims to serve as the new symbol of advancement with a strong presence.
The interior has been designed to be emotive through the design keywords of "Ingenious Beauty" and impactful through the overall design concept of "ICONIC Human-tech".
Clear, symbolic arrangement of information
Excess has been eliminated for spacious cabin with a unified feel.
Interior quality with "Ingenious Beauty"
Clear, Structural Arrangement of Information Devices and Creating an Iconic Design
Prius' new interior inherits the intuitive concept of former generations:
A design based on placing the meters further away from the driver and the displays close at hand while organizing and grouping information accordingly.
The meter and the center display wrap around the instrument panel showing a layered structure. This functional layout also creates an iconic design.
Cabin with an Open and Integrated Feel
The base of the thin instrument panel is set low and flows seamlessly into the door trim. This provides a feeling of being gently nestled in a unified cabin.
Excess volume has been eliminated from the cross-section of the instrument panel, door trim, and pillars. This realizes comfortable interior with an open feeling that enables unimpeded occupant movement.
The soft instrument panel and trim surfaces have a smooth and a warm feel, conveying warmth within its advanced appearance to express the "ICONIC Human-tech" concept.
The headliner is shaped specifically to take advantage of ample head clearance.
The center pillar and rear quarter trim are blacked out to make the cabin feel more spacious lengthwise.
Expressing a New Kind of Quality Feel through a Fusion of Functionality and Playfulness
The shape of each functional component clearly expresses its purpose and is simply and beautifully arranged into iconic shapes.
White ornamentation is applied to the interior to create a high-impact, friendly expression of 'ICONIC Human-tech' in addition to the warm, smooth surface texture of the instrument panel and trim.
Instrument Panel
The instrument panel is designed to create a spacious and comfortable cabin.
A unified appearance is also achieved through the instrument panel design integrating with the door trim.
The large center cluster appears to float through a carefully carved, almost invisible rear surface.
Occupant touch point padding has been added to create a high quality, luxurious feel.
Features that drivers need to use on a regular basis are placed close to hand for intuitive operation.
Door Trim
