  1. CONSTRUCTION


    1. The power output of the engine, which is transmitted via the planetary gear unit, is divided into the motive force directed to the drive wheels and the motive force to the generator (MG1) for generating electricity. Also, when generator (MG1) rotates and the engine starts, generator (MG1) functions as a starter.

    2. As part of the power split planetary gear unit, the sun gear is connected to generator (MG1), the ring gear is connected to the counter drive gear (output) and the carrier is connected to the engine.

    3. A compound gear integrated with the 3 gear functions of the ring gear of the power split planetary gear, counter drive gear and parking lock gear is used. Optimization of the heat treatment and machining process ensures high precision which has achieved a compact gear train and reduced noise.
