OUTLINE
The cooling system uses a pressurized forced circulation system with a pressurized reserve sealed tank.
An electric engine water pump assembly is used to reduce friction losses and weight.
A thermostat is located on the water inlet housing to maintain suitable temperature distribution in the cooling system.
Warm coolant from the cylinder head sub-assembly is sent to the throttle body assembly to prevent throttle body assembly icing (ice buildup), and at the same time is also sent to the EGR cooler to cool down the EGR gas.
An exhaust heat recirculation system that collects exhaust heat from the exhaust system is provided.*
*: Models with exhaust heat recirculation system
An aluminum radiator core is used for weight reduction.
TOYOTA genuine Super Long Life Coolant (SLLC) is used.
By utilizing a grill shutter system, the amount of airflow to the coolant system can be optimized. This ensures early warm up of the engine.
A dual-passage cooling system is utilized to achieve early warm up of the engine due to reduced coolant flow. This ensures both heater performance and enhances fuel economy. For details, Click here.*

SPECIFICATION
Engine Coolant
TOYOTA genuine Super Long Life Coolant (SLLC) is used. The maintenance interval is as shown in the table below:
| Coolant Type | TOYOTA Genuine SLLC or equivalent* | |
| Maintenance Intervals | First Time | 160000 km (100000 miles) |
| Subsequent | Every 80000 km (50000 miles) | |
| Color | Pink | |
Tech Tips
*: Similar high quality ethylene glycol based non-silicate, non-amine, non-nitrite, and non-borate coolant with long-life hybrid organic acid technology. (Coolant with long-life hybrid organic acid technology is a combination of low phosphates and organic acids.)
SLLC is pre-mixed (50% coolant and 50% deionized water), so no dilution is needed when adding or replacing SLLC.
