POWER SLIDE DOOR SYSTEM


  1. CONSTRUCTION


    1. The rear slide door lock assembly consists mainly of a closer motor, latch, pawl, open cable, release cable, various levers and various switches.

    2. The rear slide door lock assembly fully closes the slide door automatically when the slide door is ajar.

    3. When the slide door is fully closed, the open cable is pulled to disengage the latch in the rear slide door lock assembly.

    4. When the slide door is fully opened or closed, the closer motor in the rear slide door lock assembly operates the slide door handle assembly to drive a link mechanism such as the active lever and pull the release cable.

    5. The rear slide door lock assembly contains 5 switches to detect the locked state. The detection functions of the switches are the following:

      Half-latch Switch Turns on from the time the latch is released, until just before it is at the half latch position, in order to detect the position of the latch.
      Full-latch Switch Turns off when the latch is in the full latch state, in order to detect the fully closed position of the latch.
      Pawl Switch Detects the position of the pawl, turns on when the latch is fully closed, and turns off when the latch is rotating.
      Neutral Position Switch (Close) Detects the active lever close operating range, and turns off when the active lever returns to its initial position.
      Neutral Position Switch (Release) Detects the active lever release operating range, and turns off when the active lever returns to its initial position.

  2. OPERATION


    1. Slide Door Closer Function


      1. The slide door ECU detects that the half-latch switch is off, and approximately 1 second later, rotates the closer motor in the closing direction. At the same time, the pawl switch turns off.

      2. When the active lever is outside the neutral range, the neutral position switch (close) turns on. Afterwards, the slide door fully closes, the full-latch switch and pawl switch turn off, and the closer motor stops.

      3. After the slide door fully closes, the slide door ECU reverses the closer motor until the neutral position switch (close) turns off in order to return the active lever to its initial position.

      4. If a closing operation of the closer motor does not complete within 3 seconds, the motor begins to operate in reverse. If the reverse rotation operation does not complete within 3 seconds, the closer motor stops.

      5. When the closer motor rotates, the drive force of the motor is transmitted from the worm gear to the wheel gear to the pinion gear and rotates the active lever in conjunction with the pinion gear. This allows the latch to rotate with the passive lever and change the slide door from half latch to full latch.

    2. Release Function


      1. When a slide door auto open operation is performed via operation of the slide door switch, power slide door button or one-touch switch, the slide door ECU operates the closer motor to release the locks of the slide door front lock assembly and rear slide door lock assembly. Also, when a slide door auto close operation is performed via operation of the slide door switch, power slide door button or one-touch switch, the lock of the slide door full open stop lock assembly is released.

      2. When the closer motor rotates, the drive force of the motor is transmitted from the worm gear to the wheel gear to the pinion gear, rotates the active lever in conjunction with the pinion gear, and operates the release lever, power slide door lock remote cable and slide door handle assembly. This releases the locks of the slide door front lock assembly, rear slide door lock assembly and slide door full open stop lock assembly.
