OPERATING CONDITION
Operation of the power slide door system is possible when all of the following conditions are met.
| Engine Switch | Operation Condition |
|---|---|
| On |
|
| Off |
|
Tech Tips
*1: Applies to the left side slide door only.
*2: Operation is possible while the slide door is open.
*3: During slide door open operation
When operation conditions are not met, the slide door ECU stops operation of the slide door and sounds the buzzer to warn the driver.
| Slide Door Condition | Operation Conditions not Met | Control | Buzzer Operation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Slide Door Stopped → Operation Started | Any of the following conditions are not met:
|
Operation does not start | Sounds 2 times for 0.13 seconds*1 |
| Any of the following conditions are not met:
|
Operation does not start or strong brake/clutch control activates*2 | Sounds 2 times for 0.13 seconds*3 | |
| Vehicle speed is less than approximately 3 km/h (1.8 mph). | Operation does not start or suspend control (magnetic clutch is engaged) activates*4 | Sounds 2 times for 0.13 seconds*3 | |
| During Slide Door Open Operation | Any of the following conditions are not met:
|
Operation stops or strong brake/clutch control activates | Sounds 1 time for 2 seconds |
| Vehicle speed is less than approximately 3 km/h (1.8 mph). | Operation stops or suspend control (magnetic clutch is engaged) activates | Sounds 1 time for 2 seconds | |
| During Slide Door Close Operation | Any of the following conditions are not met:
|
Operation stops or strong brake/clutch control activates | Sounds 1 time for 2 seconds |
Tech Tips
*1: If operation is started with the slide door inside handle or slide door outside handle, the buzzer will not sound.
*2: When the slide door inside handle or slide door outside handle is manually operated to open or close the slide door, the system activates strong brake/clutch control. In this case, the buzzer sounds for approximately 2 seconds.
*3: If the slide door unlock conditions are not met when an open operation is started with the slide door inside handle or slide door outside handle while the slide door is fully closed, the buzzer will not sound.
*4: When the slide door inside handle or slide door outside handle is manually operated to open or close the slide door, the system engaged the magnetic clutch. In this case, the buzzer sounds for approximately 2 seconds.
SYSTEM CONTROL
The power slide door system has the following controls:
| Control | Outline |
|---|---|
| Auto Opener/Closer Control | The slide door automatically opens and closes when any of the following are operated.
|
| Jam Protection Control | If an overload is applied during a slide door open or close operation, or a jam is detected, the slide door open or close operation reverses, and then stops. |
| Suspended Control | When any of the following is operated during a slide door auto open or close operation, the slide door stops operating and the magnetic clutch is engaged.
|
| Brake/Clutch Control | If the speed of the slide door reaches or exceeds a specified value when the slide door is opening or closing (with the power slide door main switch off), the magnetic clutch is operated in order to reduce the slide door moving speed. |
| Strong Brake/Clutch Control | When manual mode (manual opening and closing of the slide door) is activated due to a system malfunction, etc., if the moving speed of the slide door is at a specified value or more, the magnetic clutch is operated in order to reduce the slide door moving speed. |
| Intermittent Clutch Control | If a pulse sensor (door sensor) malfunction is detected during a slide door open or close operation, the magnetic clutch intermittently operates to slow the speed of the slide door. |
| Slide Door Open/Close Speed Control | The slide door ECU operates at low speed control to reduce the jam impact during a fully closed condition and to reduce the shock during a fully opened condition. |

Jam Protection Control
The slide door ECU detects whether an overload has been applied to the power slide door by the change in the touch sensor (power slide door sensor assembly) or power slide door motor current value. When this occurs, the slide door ECU reverses, and then stops the slide door.
| Detection Method | Control | |
|---|---|---|
| Touch sensor (power slide door sensor assembly) output signal | During close operation | Reverses 100 mm and stops* |
| Change in power slide door motor current value | During close operation | Reverses 100 mm and stops* |
| During open operation | Reverses 100 mm and stops* | |
Tech Tips
*: Slide door operation stops for a maximum of 30 minutes (magnetic clutch engaged). If 30 minutes elapse, the buzzer sounds for 2 seconds and the system activates strong brake/clutch control to prevent battery depletion.
Brake/Clutch Control
If the speed of the slide door reaches or exceeds a specified value by manual open or close operation of the slide door or through the weight of the slide door, the power slide door motor stops and the magnetic clutch is operated in order to reduce the slide door moving speed.
Brake/clutch control operates regardless of whether the power slide door main switch is on or off.
When the speed of the slide door reaches or exceeds the specified value (approximately 1 m/sec.) and all of the following conditions are met, brake/clutch control starts. Also, brake/clutch control is ended by fully closing the slide door.
|
Strong Brake/Clutch Control
When manual mode (manual opening and closing of the slide door) is activated, if the moving speed of the slide door is at a specified value or more, the magnetic clutch is operated in order to reduce the slide door moving speed.
When any of the following conditions are met and the moving speed of the slide door via manual operation is at a specified value (approximately 0.25 m/sec.) or more, strong brake/clutch control activates.
|
When any of the following conditions are met after strong brake/clutch control activates, control ends.
|
Intermittent Clutch Control
When the speed of the slide door cannot be detected due to a pulse sensor (door sensor) malfunction, the magnetic clutch operates intermittently and slows the slide door.
Intermittent clutch control starts when the following condition is met. If approximately 20 seconds elapse after control starts or the slide door fully closes, intermittent clutch control is ended.
