      1. Cold Storage Type Evaporator

        • The cold storage type evaporator is used on models with a 2AR-FE engine.

        • The cold storage type evaporator is composed of tanks, tubes, cooling fins and cold storage cases.

        • The cold storage cases with built-in cold insulators are structures sandwiched between tubes used as refrigerant passages and can store cold energy in a short amount of time.

    2. Rear Evaporator

      1. A Revolutionary super-slim Structure (RS) type evaporator is used. Placing the tanks at the top and the bottom of the evaporator and using a micropore tube construction provides the following benefits:

        • Improved heat exchange efficiency

        • More uniform temperature distribution

        • A thinner evaporator

  2. OPERATION

    1. Cold Storage Type Evaporator

      1. When the engine is running, the refrigerant cools air blown by the system and the cold insulator inside the cold storage cases. The cold insulator stores the cold energy from the refrigerant.

      2. When the engine is stopped according to stop and start control, cold energy accumulated in the cold insulator cools air blown by the system and suppresses temperature increases in the air outlet temperature.

      3. Engine restarts according to requests from air conditioning control are reduced by suppressing temperature increases in the air outlet temperature.
