FRONT SUSPENSION SYSTEM

  1. CONSTRUCTION

    1. A low-pressure (N2) gas sealed front shock absorber with a built-in rebound spring and digressive valve is used to achieve a high level of controllability, driving stability and ride comfort.

    2. The built-in rebound spring is designed to function with the suspension spring in order to restrain suspension extension during rebound. Also, in order to realize a soft and comfortable ride, only the suspension springs are used when the suspension stroke is small during normal driving. However, when load is removed from the inner wheels during cornering, the functions of both the rebound spring and the suspension spring interact and the extension of the suspension is restrained. This results in excellent maneuverability and stability without affecting ride comfort.

    3. A digressive valve which operates during the extension stroke has been adopted. The digressive valve retains the standard dampening force during slow speed extension but reduces the dampening force during medium or high speed extension. This reduces oscillation and unpleasant vibrations while ensuring good maneuverability and stability during cornering and lane changes.

      Tech Tips

To prevent hazardous conditions, make sure to empty the gas from the front shock absorber assembly before discarding the low-pressure (N2) gas sealed in the front shock absorber assembly. For details, refer to the Repair Manual.
