ENGINE UNIT

  1. CONSTRUCTION

    1. The shape of the crankshaft has been optimized to achieve a higher dimension of weight reduction, reliability and quietness.

    2. The oil groove on the crankshaft bearing is made eccentric to reduce the amount of oil leakage from the bearing. This enables the capacity of the oil pump to be reduced in order to achieve a low friction operation.

    3. The lining surfaces of some of the crankshaft bearings have been micro-grooved to achieve an optimal amount of oil clearance. As a result, cold-engine cranking performance has been improved and engine vibration has been reduced.

    4. A solid lubrication overlay is used on the lining surface of the crankshaft thrust washer and the lining surfaces of some of the crankshaft bearings to reduce friction and improve reliability.

    5. Lead-free materials have been used for the crankshaft, crankshaft bearing and crankshaft thrust washer in consideration of environmental issues.
