OUTLINE
8AR-FTS Engine
The 8AR-FTS engine is an in-line, 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter, 16-valve DOHC, turbocharged engine with intercooler. This engine is a Direct injection 4-stroke gasoline engine Superior version (D-4S) which uses both direct injection and port injection systems. In addition, this engine uses the Variable Valve Timing-intelligent Wide (VVT-iW) control, Variable Valve Timing-intelligent (VVT-i) control, Direct Ignition System (DIS), Electronic Throttle Control System-intelligent (ETCS-i). It has been developed to achieve high performance, quietness, fuel economy and clean emissions.

Tech Tips
Economy with Superior Thermal Efficient Combustion (ESTEC): An engine series which achieves thermal efficiency (fuel economy) improvements through continuous improvements to engine combustion.
Direct injection 4 stroke gasoline engine Superior version with Turbo (D-4ST): A direct injection technology which uses a system to comprehensively perform supercharging control for the D-4S system and turbocharger to achieve a higher dimension of high tumble flow and turbo pressure control by optimizing the cylinder head ports and shape of the piston faces. As a result, fuel economy and low-speed torque are achieved.
2GR-FKS Engine
The 2GR-FKS engine is a V-type, 6-cylinder, 3.5-liter, 24-valve DOHC engine. This engine is a Direct injection 4-stroke gasoline engine Superior version (D-4S) which uses both direct injection and port injection systems. In addition, this engine uses the Variable Valve Timing-intelligent Wide (VVT-iW) control, Variable Valve Timing-intelligent (VVT-i) control, Direct Ignition System (DIS), Electronic Throttle Control System-intelligent (ETCS-i). Suspension
A Double-wishbone type independent suspension is used for the front.
A Multi link type independent suspension is used for the rear.
Steering
The Electric Power Steering (EPS) system uses a motor and a reduction mechanism that are built into the steering gear housing to generate assist torque, in order to assist the driver's steering effort.
A Variable Gear Ratio Steering (VGRS) system is used. This system controls the turning angle of the front wheels in accordance with the vehicle speed. As a result, excellent ease of steering operation and vehicle stability have been achieved, from the low-speed to the high-speed range.
A Lexus Dynamic Handling (LDH) system is used, which consists of the Variable Gear Ratio Steering (VGRS) system, which controls the turning angle of the front wheels, and the Dynamic Rear Steering (DRS) system, which controls the turning angle of the rear wheels. The LDH system integrates and controls the VGRS system, DRS system and Electric Power Steering (EPS) system, which controls steering torque, thus achieving both vehicle reaction performance appropriate to the driver's intention and superior vehicle stability.
