HYBRID BATTERY SYSTEM

  1. CONSTRUCTION

    1. One battery cooling blower assembly is provided for each of the 2 HV battery module groups. Because each of the 2 battery cooling blower assemblies has been made compact, the overall operating sound has been reduced.

    2. A sirocco type fan, which is highly efficient and low noise, is used.

    3. A high-output brushless type motor is used for the blower motor, and the inner shape of the blower case has been optimized. As a result, blower noise is reduced.

    4. The blower motor has a built-in motor controller, and is controlled in a variable manner by the duty cycle signal from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.

    5. The hybrid vehicle control ECU controls the operation of the battery cooling blower assemblies. The hybrid vehicle control ECU receives signals from the battery voltage sensor about the battery temperature sensors which are built into the HV battery assembly. Then, the hybrid vehicle control ECU controls the battery cooling blower assemblies in order to control the battery temperature to an appropriate level.

    6. The cabin air is taken in from both sides of the rear seat and travels to the battery cooling blower assemblies through the intake air ducts. The air that is taken in flows from the top to the bottom between the battery modules and after heat exchange is performed, travels from the rear of the HV battery assembly to the small storage space on the bottom of the deck board, and then discharged into the luggage compartment from the air vent provided between the rear seatback and deck board. By discharging the warm air into the luggage compartment, discomfort to occupants is reduced.
