THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM


  1. FUNCTION


    1. The theft deterrent system has the following functions:

      Function Outline
      Alarm When the theft deterrent system switches to the alarm state, the warning items are operated and the alarm sounds for approximately 27.5 seconds.
      Alarm Indicator When the theft deterrent system switches to the armed preparation state or alarm state, the security indicator light is illuminated to inform the user. This indicator is also the immobiliser indicator, which blinks when the immobiliser is in the set state.
      Forced Door Lock

      The main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) transmits a door lock signal to all the doors when all the following conditions are met:


      • The theft deterrent system is in the alarm state.

      • There is no electrical key transmitter sub-assembly in the actuation area.

      • One of the doors has been unlocked.

      The function stops when one of the following conditions is met:


      • All doors are locked.

      • The warning ends after approximately 27.5 seconds.

      • The electrical key transmitter sub-assembly is in the actuation area.

      Panic Control* When the panic button of the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly is pressed, the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) operates the alarm function.

  2. OPERATION


    1. The theft deterrent system can be set by locking the doors using any of the following operations:

      *: Keyless lock operation is door lock operation without using the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly. First, set the lock position (door lock knob) when the door is open, and close the door while pulling the door handle to lock the door.

    2. The theft deterrent system can be set by locking the doors using any of the following operations:

    3. The states of the theft deterrent system are as follows:

      State Description Theft Detection
      Disarmed State The theft deterrent system has not been set by the user. Not possible
      Armed Preparation State This is the preparation state before the theft deterrent system becomes active (enters the armed state) when the system has been set by the user. Not possible
      Armed State The theft deterrent system is active. (Theft can be detected.) Possible
      Alarm State A theft attempt has been detected and the warning operation activates. Possible

    4. The theft deterrent system activates as shown in the diagram above when one of the items in the table occurs in order to cause the system to enter the respective state.

      In disarmed state 1, when the power switch is off, the system state is switched if the following condition is met:


      • With all doors and the engine hood closed, all doors are locked by wireless operation or the entry and start system*1.

      • All doors are locked using the mechanical key while all doors and the engine hood are closed.*2

      In disarmed state 1, when the power switch is off, the engine hood is closed, and all doors are locked, the system state is switched if the following condition is met:*2


      • The state changes from any of the doors being opened to all doors being closed.

      • Approximately 30 seconds elapse.*3

      • Approximately 9 seconds to elapse.*4

      • All doors are unlocked by wireless operation, the entry and start system*1 or key linked*2 power door lock operation.

      • Any doors are unlocked using the mechanical key.*2

      • Any door is opened.

      • All doors are unlocked by wireless operation

      • The power switch is pushed.

      • The power switch is turned on (ACC) or on (IG).

      • The battery is reconnected.

      • The engine hood is opened when the engine hood is closed.

      • The intrusion sensor (theft warning ultrasonic sensor) detects movement within the vehicle.*7

      • Tilt sensor detects a change in the pitch angle of the vehicle inclination.*8

      • The glass breakage sensor detects that glass is broken.*9

      • Any door is opened when all doors are closed.

      • Any door is unlocked when all doors are locked.

      • When 5 seconds or more have elapsed after the power switch is pushed, the power source mode is changed from off to on (IG) without pressing the power switch.

      • The engine hood is open.*6

      • Any door is opened.*6

      • The power source mode is on (IG).*6

        Note

        Ultrasonic waves are used to detect intrusion. Ultrasonic waves do not penetrate steel or glass. When any of the door windows is left open, ultrasonic waves may escape. This may result in the detection of people in the surroundings, leaves or insects entering the vehicle, strong wind or other ultrasonic wave sources in the environment when the vehicle is parked with the door windows open. When parking the vehicle with the door windows open for ventilation, turn off the intrusion sensor (theft warning ultrasonic sensor) using the intrusion sensor cancel switch.*7

      • The power switch is turned on (IG) and the hybrid system is operating.

      • One motion or hands free*11 power back door is opened.*5

      • All doors are unlocked by wireless operation, the entry and start system*1 or key linked*2 power door lock operation.

      • A door is unlocked using the mechanical key.*2

      • The power switch is turned on (ACC) or on (IG) within 5 seconds of the power switch being pushed.*2

      • After approximately 27.5 seconds, alarm stops and the system returns to the armed state.*2

      • After approximately 27.5 seconds, alarm stops and 5 seconds later the system returns to the armed state.*6

      • The open engine hood is closed with all the doors closed.

      • The power back door reservation lock is operated with the engine hood and a door other than the back door closed.*5

      • Any door is unlocked when all doors are locked.

      • Any door is opened.

      • The power switch is pushed.

      • The power switch is turned on (ACC) or on (IG).

      • The battery is reconnected.

      • All doors are unlocked by wireless operation, the entry and start system*1 or key linked*2 power door lock operation.

      • A door is unlocked using the mechanical key.*2

      • The power back door is opened with the wireless one motion or hands free power back door*10 function.*5

      • While the power back door is closing, the power back door reverses direction, stops partway or any other door is opened.*5

      In disarmed state 1, when the power switch is off, the system state is switched if the following condition is met:


      • With all doors closed, and the engine hood opened, all doors are locked by wireless operation, the entry and start system*1 or key linked*2 power door lock operation.

      • With all the doors closed, and the engine hood opened, all the doors are locked by the mechanical key.*2

      In disarmed state 1, when the power switch is off, all doors are locked and the engine hood is open, the system state is switched if the following condition is met:


      • The state changes from any of the doors being opened to all doors being closed.

      In disarmed state 1, when the power switch is off, the power back door is closing and all doors are closed, the system state is switched if the following condition is met:*5


      • All doors are locked by wireless operation.
