FUNCTION
The LED driver module (LED light control ECU) executes the fail-safe functions listed below in accordance with the problem that has been detected:
| Problem | Outline |
|---|---|
| Abnormal Output (Open Circuit or Short Circuit) | If an abnormal condition (open or short) occurs in the voltage that is output by the LED driver module (LED light control ECU), the LED driver module (LED light control ECU) stops illuminating the headlights and will maintain this state until the power is reinstated. Power is reinstated by turning the light control switch from off to on. |
| Abnormal Input Voltage | If the voltage that is input to the LED driver module (LED light control ECU) deviates from the normal operating voltage (17 V or more), the LED driver module (LED light control ECU) stops illuminating the headlights. It resumes illuminating the LEDs once the voltage reverts to the operating voltage range (10 V to 16 V). |
| If the voltage that is input to the LED driver module (LED light control ECU) deviates from the normal operating voltage (8.5 V to 10 V), the LED driver module (LED light control ECU) limits the output current. (The headlights will remain illuminated.) It cancels the output current limit once the voltage reverts to the operating voltage range (10 V to 16 V). | |
| If the voltage that is input to the LED driver module (LED light control ECU) deviates from the normal operating voltage (6 V or less), the LED driver module (LED light control ECU) stops illuminating the headlights. It resumes illuminating the LEDs once the voltage reverts to 8.5 V or more. |
CONSTRUCTION
When the headlights are turned on, the LED driver modules (LED light control ECUs) immediately turn on the LEDs (after approximately 0.1 seconds). In addition, by regulating the output current flowing into the LEDs at a specified level, the LED driver modules (LED light control ECUs) prevent the light from getting brighter and dimmer due to voltage variation.
