POWER TRUNK LID SYSTEM


  1. FUNCTION OB MAIN COMPONENTS

    Component Function
    Main Body ECU (Multiplex Network Body ECU) When the luggage door opener switch is pressed, the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) transmits a signal to the multiplex network door ECU.
    Luggage Closer Motor Assembly Multiplex Network Door ECU Controls the power trunk lid system in accordance with the signals received from the switches and ECUs
    Luggage Closer Motor Opens and closes the luggage compartment door when actuated by the multiplex network door ECU.
    Buzzer The buzzer sounds once, when the door control switch is pushed.
    Certification ECU (Smart Key ECU Assembly) Sends an open signal to the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU).
    ECM Sends a shift lever position signal to the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU).

    Brake Actuator Assembly


    • Skid Control ECU

    Sends the stop light switch assembly on signal to the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU).
    Combination Meter Assembly Sends a vehicle speed signal to the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU).
    Parking Brake ECU Assembly Sends an electrical parking brake switch assembly signal to the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU).
    Luggage Compartment Door Opening Switch Assembly Sends an on signal to the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) to automatically open the luggage compartment door from the cabin.
    Door Control Switch Sends an on signal to the multiplex network door ECU to automatically close the luggage compartment door from the outside.
    Luggage Electrical Key Switch Sends an on signal to the certification ECU (Smart Key ECU Assembly) to automatically open the luggage compartment door from the outside.
    Electrical Key Transmitter Sub-assembly Sends a luggage compartment door opener button on signal to the smart door control receiver assembly.
    Luggage Door Opening Cancel Switch Assembly
    • Setting this switch to off prohibits system operation.

    • Even when the switch is off, the power trunk lid system can be closed.

    Luggage Door Closer Assembly


    • Luggage Door Closer Motor

    In accordance with the signals received from the switches, the luggage door closer assembly automatically closes the luggage compartment door that is ajar to the fully closed state. This is accomplished by actuating the motor to push and turn the latch in order to pull the striker in.

    Upon receiving the open signals from the switches, the system actuates the motor to disengage the latch. As a result, the striker disengages from the latch, enabling the luggage compartment door to open.

    Electric Parking Brake Switch Assembly Sends an on signal to the parking brake ECU assembly.
    Smart Door Control Receiver Assembly Sends a luggage compartment door opener button on signal received from the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly to the certification ECU (Smart Key ECU Assembly).
    Wireless Door Lock Buzzer* Sounds once when the luggage compartment door is opened using the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly.

  2. SYSTEM CONTROL


    1. The operating conditions of the luggage compartment door opener system are as follows:

      Operation Condition
      Luggage Compartment Door Open

      When the luggage compartment door is closed and any of the following conditions is met, the luggage compartment door can be opened by pressing the Luggage Compartment Door Opening Switch Assembly or luggage electrical key switch:


      • Engine switch is off.

      • Engine switch is on (IG), vehicle speed is approx. 3 km/h (approx. 2 mph) or less and shift lever is in P.

      • Engine switch is on (IG), vehicle speed is approx. 3 km/h (approx. 2 mph) or less and brake pedal is depressed.

      • Engine switch is on (IG), vehicle speed is approx. 3 km/h (approx. 2 mph) or less and parking brake is engaged.

      • The user is inside the exterior actuation area around the luggage compartment door while holding the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly.

  3. FUNCTION


    1. Opener Function


      1. When the luggage door opening cancel switch assembly is on and any of the operation conditions are met while the luggage compartment door is fully closed, the opening operation of the luggage compartment door is performed by pressing the luggage door opener switch, the luggage electrical key switch or the luggage compartment door opener button of the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly.

      2. The open function operates as follows:


        • When the open function operation has started, the magnet clutch in the luggage closer motor assembly is turned on and the luggage door closer motor in the luggage door closer assembly is driven counterclockwise to release the latch.

        • When detecting that the half switch has turned from off to on, the luggage closer motor in the luggage closer motor assembly is driven in the opening direction to open the luggage compartment door

        • The closer pulse detects the end point of the closer gear to stop the luggage door closer motor.

        • When the luggage compartment door is opened more than a certain amount by the door pulse signal, the luggage door closer motor starts to drive clockwise

        • When the closer pulse detects the neutral position of the closer gear, it stops the operation of the luggage door closer motor.

        • After the door pulse signal has detected the fully opened position of the luggage compartment door, the magnet clutch turns off and the drive of the luggage closer motor stops. Thereafter, the luggage compartment door maintains its fully-opened position by the reaction force of the torsion bar spring.

    2. Closer Function


      1. When the door control switch is pressed while the luggage compartment door is fully open, the closing operation of the luggage compartment door is performed.

      2. The closer function operates as follows:


        • When the closer function has started, the buzzer in the multiplex network door ECU sounds once, the magnet clutch in the luggage closer motor assembly is turned on and the luggage closer motor is driven in the closing direction, thus closing the luggage compartment door.

        • When detecting that the half switch in the luggage door closer assembly has turned from on to off, it stops the luggage closer motor and drives the luggage door closer motor clockwise to start the closing operation

        • When detecting that the pawl switch is off, the magnet clutch is turned to off.

        • After the closer function detects that the closer pulse signal is in the neutral position of the closer gear, the luggage door closer motor stops and the luggage compartment door is fully closed to complete the operation.

    3. Jam Protection Function


      1. The multiplex network door ECU determines the jamming of the trunk lid system upon receiving the signals from the Hall ICs.

      2. The multiplex network door ECU determines the luggage compartment door movement distance and the luggage compartment door opening/closing speed (door foreign object jamming) via the pulse signals from the Hall IC, and the luggage compartment door position (door movement direction) from the phase difference between the pulses from Hall IC 1 and Hall IC 2.

      3. If a foreign object gets jammed during opening or closing of the power trunk lid, the pulse width of the output signal from Hall IC changes. The multiplex network door ECU interprets this as jamming, it stops the luggage closer motor if the luggage compartment door is in open operation. If the luggage compartment door is in close operation, the ECU reverses the motor rotating direction.
