POWER SEAT CONTROL SYSTEM

  1. OPERATING CONDITION

    1. Memory Function

      1. The memory function operating conditions are as follows:

        Function Condition Operation
        Memory

Either of the following conditions is met while the engine switch is on (IG):

        • Switch 1, 2 or 3 (seat memory switch LH/RH) is pushed while the "SET" switch is pushed.

        • Switch 1, 2 or 3 (seat memory switch LH/RH) is pushed within 3 seconds after the "SET" switch is pushed.

        • Memorizes the seat position when switch 1, 2 or 3 is pressed.

        • When the memory setting is completed, the buzzer sounds for 0.5 seconds.

        Recall For Driver Seat
        • Engine switch is off.

        • Switch 1, 2 or 3 (seat memory switch LH) is pushed within 180 seconds after the driver door has been opened while the engine switch is off.

        • Switch 1, 2 or 3 (seat memory switch LH) is pushed.

The seat position that was memorized in the position control ECU LH/RH (position control ECU and switch assembly LH/RH) is recalled.

        • Engine switch is on (IG).

        • Shift position is in P.

        • Switch 1, 2 or 3 (seat memory switch LH) is pushed.

Switch 1, 2 or 3 (seat memory switch LH) is pushed within 60 seconds after the engine switch has been turned off and the driver door has been closed.
        For Front Passenger Seat

Switch 1, 2 or 3 (seat memory switch RH) is pushed within 180 seconds after:

        • Engine switch is off.

        • Front passenger door is opened.

        • Engine switch is on (IG)

        • Shift position is in P.

        • Switch 1, 2 or 3 (seat memory switch RH) is pushed.

        Memory Call For Driver Seat
        • A key ID is registered to switch 1, 2 or 3 (seat memory switch LH).

        • Engine switch is off.

        • The inside of the outside door handle is touched or the key unlock button is pushed to unlock, and then open the driver door is opened.

The seat automatically moves rearward up to 50 mm (1.97 inch)* from the memorized seat position.

        • Seat position is automatic away position

        • Engine switch is on (ACC) or on (IG).

The seat automatically returns to the memorized seat position
        Automatic Away For Driver Seat
        • Shift position is in P.

        • Front seat inner belt assembly LH is off.

        • Engine switch is turned off.

The seat automatically moves rearward up to 50 mm (1.97 in.)*.
        Automatic Return For Driver Seat
        • Seat position is automatic away position.

        • Engine switch is turned on (ACC) or on (IG).

The seat automatically returns to the previous seat position.

        • Seat position is automatic away position.

        • Front seat inner belt assembly LH is on.

        Tech Tips

*: Seat slide distance can be changed using the body electronics system. For details, refer to the Repair Manual.

  2. FUNCTION

    1. Memory Function

      1. The power seat control system has the following functions:

        Function Outline
Manual Control The fore-and-aft slide, reclining, front vertical, lifter and lumbar support* can be adjusted using the position control ECU and switch assembly LH/RH and front lumbar power seat switch*.
Memory Memory The memory function can memorize 3 different seat positions.
Recall The recall function can recall 3 different memorized seat positions.
Memory Call* The memory call function, which utilizes the key IDs, is used to memorize and retrieve the optimal driving positions for a person possessing the key.
Automatic Away* The automatic away function automatically slides the seat rearward, making it easier to enter and exit the vehicle.
Automatic Return* The automatic return function automatically returns the seat to the previous position before starting the vehicle.

        Tech Tips

        *: Only for driver seat

      2. The memory function works in combination with the following systems, ensuring usability and enabling easy entering or exiting of the vehicle.

        System Outline
Power Tilt and Telescopic System The multiplex tilt and telescopic ECU memorizes the steering column position and recalls it when all conditions are met.
Outside Rear View Mirror System The front door ECU LH/RH (front multiplex network door ECU LH/RH) memorizes the outside rear view mirror positions and recalls them when all conditions are met.
  3. OPERATION

    1. Seat Position Detection Method

      1. The Hall IC installed on the power seat motor generates pulses corresponding to the speed of the motor. These pulses are then picked up by the position control ECU LH (position control ECU and switch assembly LH) in order to detect the seat position.

*a Current pulsation generated by motor - -
  4. DIAGNOSIS

    1. The position control ECU LH/RH (position control ECU and switch assembly LH/RH) has a diagnosis function. It stores a record of any power seat control system malfunctions in its memory in the form of Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).

    2. The position control ECU LH/RH (position control ECU and switch assembly LH/RH) outputs malfunction data and 5-digit DTCs to the Global TechStream (GTS).

    3. The 5-digit DTCs can be read after connecting the Global TechStream (GTS) to the DLC3. For details, refer to the Repair Manual.
