STEERING LOCK SYSTEM

  1. FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENTS

    Component Function
Steering Lock Actuator Assembly Steering Lock ECU Receives the steering wheel unlock/lock request signal from the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) and ID code box (immobiliser code ECU), and activates the steering lock motor.
Certification ECU (Smart Key ECU Assembly)
    • Certifies the electrical key (card key) transmitter sub-assembly.

    • Transmits each power supply signal for the lock/unlock motor to the steering lock ECU.

    • Transmits each set/unset request signal to the steering lock ECU.

ID Code Box (Immobiliser Code ECU) Registers certification codes for the entry and start system.
Combination Meter Assembly Master Warning Light Blinks to warn the driver in accordance with signals from the steering lock control system.
Multi-information Display Displays a warning message to inform the driver of a malfunction in the steering lock control system.
Buzzer Sounds to warn the driver of a malfunction in the system.
  2. FUNCTION

    1. The steering lock actuator assembly is integrated into the steering lock ECU, and the ECU controls the lock bar operation in the steering lock actuator assembly through the control of the lock/unlock motor.

    2. The steering lock ECU detects the position (lock/unlock) of the lock bar and transmits this information to the ID code box (immobiliser code ECU) and certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly).

    3. In this system, the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) determines whether to lock or unlock the steering based on communication with the ID code box (immobiliser code ECU). Then, the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) sends lock or unlock command signals to the steering lock ECU via LIN communication. Upon receiving the signals, the steering lock ECU operates the lock/unlock motor to lock or unlock the steering.

      Tech Tips

It is not possible to replace only the steering lock ECU in the steering lock actuator assembly. Therefore, if the ECU is malfunctioning, the entire steering lock actuator assembly must be replaced.
