FUNCTION
The steering lock actuator assembly is integrated into the steering lock ECU, and the ECU controls the lock bar operation in the steering lock actuator assembly through the control of the lock/unlock motor.
The steering lock ECU detects the position (lock/unlock) of the lock bar and transmits this information to the ID code box (immobiliser code ECU) and certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly).
In this system, the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) determines whether to lock or unlock the steering based on communication with the ID code box (immobiliser code ECU). Then, the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) sends lock or unlock command signals to the steering lock ECU via LIN communication. Upon receiving the signals, the steering lock ECU operates the lock/unlock motor to lock or unlock the steering.
Tech Tips
It is not possible to replace only the steering lock ECU in the steering lock actuator assembly. Therefore, if the ECU is malfunctioning, the entire steering lock actuator assembly must be replaced.
