OUTLINE
Lightweight and Highly Rigid Body
Using high strength sheet steel and ultra high strength sheet steel reduces weight and ensures rigidity together with an optimized frame joint structure and optimal positioning of reinforcement members.
Safety Features
The body has a structure that can distribute energy to multiple frame components to increase absorption of collision energy and a high strength framework that can control the deformation of the cabin and help secure sufficient survival space.
Rust-resistant Body
Rust-resistance performance is enhanced by extensive use of anti-corrosion sheet steel, as well as by anti-corrosion treatments that include the application of anti-rust wax, sealer and anti-chipping paint to parts that corrode easily, such as the hood and rocker panels.
Low Vibration and Low Noise Body
By connecting braces and reinforcements to the body panels, panel vibration has been reduced. Changes in the structure of body panels also reduce panel vibration. A structure that reduces body panel frame movement ensures low noise levels.
Effective application of vibration damping and noise suppressant materials reduces engine, wind and road noise.
Aerodynamics
The surface where the A-pillar meets the windshield has been leveled off and the shape around the doors and rockers has been smoothed, effectively reducing separation.
Various types of airflow routing parts are provided under the floor, and an under cover is provided to make the under body flat in order to ensure excellent aerodynamic performance.
Parts with Low Repair Cost
Rear end parts are connected by bolts, ensuring ease of repair.
MAIN FEATURES
Exterior Design
Front View
The front design embodies the Toyota brand strategy of "Keen look*1" through a form that emphasizes a plan view the Toyota symbol mark in the center of the radiator grille and the bold structure extending from the radiator grille through the headlights.
"Under priority*2" is strengthened by emphasizing the trapezoid-shaped front bumper opening while making the area from the engine hood through the front bumper appear as a unified mass.
The headlights feature highly efficient projector lights for both the high and low beams, offering excellent functionality expressing an image of keen eyes set on the future.
Tech Tips
*1: The Toyota exclusive front design theme that gives a bright, intelligent and clearly distinctive impression in combination with the dynamic "Under priority".
*2: A front design with an enlarged opening and an assertive under grille design, based on technical theories to enhance aerodynamic, cooling and pedestrian protection performance.
Side View
The side design expresses "Dynamism" through a mass that boldly runs from the lower stanced front area to the rear and a wheel flare shape which emphasizes the front and rear tires.
A uniquely shaped side mass with contrasting features of rounded and tensioned door panel cross sections and sharp character lines is created.
Rear View
The rear design emphasizes a stable firm stance and expresses a low center-of-gravity and positive dynamic with a minimized gap between the wheel arch and tire in order to erase the image of deep-set tires.
The back door form features a powerful convex and concaved surface in the vertical direct on and enlarged roundness in the plan view, ensuring luggage space capacity and space for the auxiliary battery. In addition to these features, the boldly designed rear combination light shape and character lines portray an emotional, agile and sporty image.
The rear combination lights feature a rounded shape that projects a sense of connection from both the window graphics and the character lines on the side of the body.
